He Rau Mahara:
To remember the journey of our Ngāi Tahu Soldiers

Undertaken to coincide with New Zealand’s First World War Centenary 2014 – 2019.
Initiated by Whakapapa Ngāi Tahu it brought together three years of research and interviews with whānau and was designed as a starting point for further research and a historical resource for all New Zealanders.

This very special project comprised of a 176 page hard cover book featuring a metallic foiled protective sleeve with a handwoven flax wrap. A soft cover version was also produced. The title ‘He Rau Mahara’ loosely translates in this case to 100 years of memories. He Rau Mahara was launched with a lunch where family members were gifted the book in a moving ceremony. Launch Invitations and menus, bookmarks, social media tiles and pull-up banners for travelling roadshows to marae were also designed as part of this project

This book was a true privilege to design and one that I was very honoured and proud to be associated with.
